We’re having similar events in the UK and we have a lot of statues that memorialize colonialism. Some communities have been campaigning for years for them to either be removed to for something to be done to acknowledge the 'other' side of the history behind them but have been ignored. So for some, it is frustration not just gleeful destruction. Thoughtful article!
